Colombia's Ecopetrol is stepping up oil and gas exploration and production, targeting to boost its output by just over 40% to 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD) in 2030, a senior company executive said.
The projects are part of Ecopetrol's plan to ramp up gas output to 30% of its portfolio up from the current 20% to meet the country's growing gas needs for transportation, Yeimy Baez, vice president of gas at Ecopetrol told Reuters.
"We are very optimistic on the activity that is being developed in the offshore basin in Colombia and they are very important for us mainly for the supply of the natural gas that is needed in the country in the coming years," Baez said.
